Membership Information

Overview

Since 1995, Cal-HOSA has continued to grow at about 8-25% yearly.  Cal-HOSA Membership consists of middle school members , secondary members, postsecondary/collegiate members, and professional members.  For details regarding specific requirements for membership, please check cal-hosa.org under membership. Remember, Cal-HOSA is a Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and requires that students be enrolled in CTE Program of Study.  Additionally, to start a chapter, you must have five students and at least one qualified advisor with the support of the school administration.

Activities for membership include

Conferences and leadership development activities at the local, regional, state and international levels include:

  • Advisor Training
  • Leadership development opportunities such as Washington Leadership Academy, various conference workshop presentations
  • Leadership project participation and other conference opportunities
  • Partnerships with the Healthcare industry
  • Recognition opportunities for students, advisors, and administrators
  • Regional Leadership Conferences – one in each of the five designated Cal-HOSA Regions
  • State Leadership Conference
  • International Leadership Conference in various locations of the United States
  • State Officer Leadership through serving as Cal-HOSA State Officer
  • Community Service activities / HOSA Service Project

Chapter Support

  • Chapter focused resources
  • Chapter Support grants to build membership and industry partnership;
  • Student focused activities to assist students in leadership skill development and becoming familiar with the healthcare industry and career options.

Affiliation

To be an officially recognized Cal-HOSA Chapter, the following requirements must be met:

**The affiliation application is an easy online process. After you have completed the online Cal-HOSA Affiliation Survey located at cal-hosa.org and receive approval from the California State Advisor:

Affiliation Checklist

  1. Go to the HOSA website at hosa.org.
  2. Click the login link at the top right of the home screen.
  3. Click on Local Chapter Advisors.
  4. Enter your charter number and password to begin the annual affiliation process.
  5. Read the Chapter Affiliation Instructions (if necessary).
  6. Select Complete the Affiliation Application from the options.
  7. Complete all necessary information and add members as appropriate.
  8. Submit the email for each member.
  9. Select view and print an affiliation account statement, then submit the invoice to your accounting department for payment.
  10. All affiliation fees are payable to HOSA – Future Health Professionals.
